Expert Witness Services

My Expertise

I offer specialised assessments for family court cases involving neurodivergence and trauma. I am able to help in understanding how neurodivergence and trauma often overlap and intersect in nuanced ways, affecting parenting capacity, communication and relational dynamics. I hold the Cardiff University/Bond Solon (CUBS) Expert Witness Family Certificate and offer independent, court-ready assessments guided by trauma-informed and neuroaffirmative principles, tailored to family law proceedings.

Who I Work With

I work with adults involved in family court proceedings, specifically those navigating issues relating to autism or ADHD, especially when these intersect with trauma and/or other mental health difficulties.

Assessments Offered

Cognitive & Capacity Assessments

  • Comprehensive evaluations of cognitive functioning to determine whether learning differences or disabilities affect an individual's understanding, communication, and ability to engage in family court proceedings.

  • Expert recommendations tailored to the individual’s cognitive profile, including reasonable adjustments, special measures, and participation directions to ensure equitable participation and clarity.

Neurodivergence Assessments (Autism & Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD))

  • Independent assessments of autism and ADHD in adults involved in family court cases.

  • Where relevant, these neurodivergence assessments can be conducted in parallel with psychological evaluations, exploring interplays among neurodivergence, trauma, and mental health issues—and how these impact interpersonal relationships and parenting.

Psychological Assessments of Adults

  • Assessments of adults in family court proceedings when neurodivergence, trauma and/or mental health difficulties may affect parenting and family dynamics.
  • Clarification on how these psychological factors influence care, communication, and child–parent relationships.
  • Tailored recommendations to help individuals, families and support networks move forward.

Why This Matters?

Your clients—both the individuals involved and the court - benefit from assessments which:

  • Focus on the psychological impact of mental health and/or trauma on parenting capacity, with clear recommendations for intervention and therapeutic support to improve outcomes for neurodivergent parents and their families.

  • Offer a neuro-affirmative, trauma-informed perspective that values neurodiversity and seeks to understand, not pathologise.

  • Offer skilled differentiation between neurodevelopmental profiles and trauma responses, particularly in adults whose presentations may be complex and multifaceted.

  • Deliver reports that are not only evidence-based and rigorous, but also deeply respectful of lived experience and strengths.

Referral Guidance

I warmly welcome referrals for cases where adult autism or ADHD are under consideration in family law, particularly when there are co-occurring trauma, psychological, or capacity concerns. To refer or enquire further, please get in touch using our contact form.
